- You receive the certificate or document, on paper or as an electronic copy where applicable.
Preguntas frecuentes
What types of notarial certificate are there?
The most common record a statement you make, a fact the notary checks (for example the state of a property or the content of a website), a formal request or notification, or a well-known fact. The notary’s office will tell you which one fits your case.
Can I do it by video call?
Many certificates can, through the official notarial portal and with a valid electronic ID. Those that require the notary to see something in person, such as checking a fact on site, cannot. The notary’s office will confirm whether your case allows it.
What does authenticating a signature mean?
The notary certifies that the signature on a private document belongs to the person who claims it, because they sign in front of the notary or acknowledge it as theirs. The notary does not review the content of the document.
What is an apostille?
It is the seal that allows a Spanish public document to be used in other countries of the Hague Convention. Notarial documents are apostilled through the College of Notaries; the notary’s office will guide you.
