Alejandro Fliquete Cervera Notary · Paterna
If you have already been granted Spanish nationality, you can take the oath or promise before a notary instead of waiting for an appointment at the Civil Registry. The notary’s office also prepares other documents required in immigration procedures, such as statements, powers of attorney or certified copies.
Para empezar, tenga a mano:
- Pasaporte o NIE en vigor
- Documento que le ha pedido la administración, si lo tiene · Si procede
Puede adjuntarlos en el encargo online o aportarlos más adelante.
Cómo funciona
- Tell us which procedure you have and send your passport or NIE and whatever the authorities have asked for.
- The notary’s office reviews the documents and tells you if anything is missing.
- You sign before the notary in person, on the agreed date.
- The notary’s office sends the certificate to the Civil Registry or gives you the document to submit where required.
Preguntas frecuentes
Can I take the nationality oath before a notary?
Yes. Once nationality has been granted, the oath or promise can be taken before a notary, who sends the certificate to the Civil Registry for registration. Have the decision granting nationality to hand.
What documents do I need?
Usually your valid passport or NIE and the decision or request from the authorities. If a document is foreign, it may need a sworn translation and an apostille or legalisation.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
The notary must make sure that you understand what you sign. If you do not speak the language well, you can come with an interpreter; the notary’s office will tell you how.
Can it be done by video call?
The nationality oath cannot: it is done in person. Some documents required for immigration procedures, such as a power of attorney, can sometimes be signed by video call; ask the notary’s office.
