Alejandro Fliquete Cervera Notary · Paterna

A power of attorney lets another person sign or handle matters in your name: selling a property, managing accounts, dealing with the authorities or representing you in an inheritance. It is granted before a notary, who checks your identity and capacity.

Para empezar, tenga a mano:

  • DNI o NIE de quien da el poder
  • Datos de la persona apoderada

Puede adjuntarlos en el encargo online o aportarlos más adelante.

Cómo funciona

  1. Say what you want the other person to be able to do and send the details of both of you.
  2. The notary’s office drafts the power with the right scope: general, for one specific matter, or in case you need help in the future.
  3. The person granting the power signs it before the notary: at the office or, in many cases, by video call, without travelling.
  4. The attorney receives a copy to use wherever it is needed.

Preguntas frecuentes

What types of power of attorney are there?

A general power covers many matters; a special one covers a single matter, for example selling a home. There are also preventive powers, which can be prepared in case you need help with decisions in the future.

Can I cancel it?

Yes. It is revoked before a notary and the attorney is told to stop using it.

Does a power of attorney expire?

It lasts until it is revoked, unless a time limit was set. Some institutions ask for a recent power.

Can I sign it by video call?

In many cases, yes. It is done through the official notarial portal, with a valid electronic ID, and the notary’s office confirms whether your case allows it. That way you can grant it without travelling.

Can I grant one if I live in another country?

Yes. It can be signed by video call if your case allows it, at the Spanish consulate in the country where you live or before a local notary, subject to certain requirements. The notary’s office will guide you.
